WSU, Brick, New Jersey - October 4, 2008

Angel Orsini faced her toughest challenge to date as WSU champion, as she took on Kara "Cherri" Slice on 10/4, at an NWS show in Brick, NJ.

In a match that went about 15 minutes, both wrestlers brought their "A"-game. Angel Orsini, taking on the former WWE Superstar, showed not only her brawn, but her brains in this match.

Towards the end of the match, the referee was accidentally bumped into. However, the two wrestlers battled in their quest for the WSU Championship. With the referee still not in the right frame of mind, Kara locked Angel into a crossface. Angel tapped out, which led to many believing the match was over and we had a new champion! Alas, the referee was down and didn't see Angel tapout.

Kara broke the hold by her own volition to check on the referee's status. Angel saw the opportunity to capitalize. While Kara was checking on Ref Mike Dillon, Angel checked up on her gold belt. When Kara turned around, Angel ka-bonked Kara right in the face with the belt.

The ref, now with the cobwebs shaken out, awoken just in time to see Angel on top of Kara. The ref counted 1-2-3, and Angel remained WSU champion.

After the match, when WSUWrestling.com caught up with the champion, Angel Orsini said that she tapped out knowing the referee was hurt and tapped out to get Kara off of her. Whether that is true or an excuse by Angel will never be truly known.

However, based on the events on this match, a rematch will take place down the line. Has Angel Orsini bitten off more than she can chew as champion? Angel has taken on one of the toughest schedules in womens wrestling history and as WSU champion she is the number 1 target in WSU.
